Delta announced plans to expand their Pacific service, facilitating Japanese travel to Honolulu and Pacific island nation, Palau.
In December 2010 Delta intend to launch a new daily service between Nagoya in Japan's Chubu region and Honolulu, pending government approval.
A 216 seat Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, with 35 BusinessElite seats and 181 economy seats will make the flight between the two hubs.
"Delta continues to be committed to the Chubu market and we will continue to work with Nagoya Centrair International Airport, local government, businesses and industry partners to offer a broader portfolio to better meet the needs of the local market," Delta Pacific Sales and Affairs Director, Jeffrey Bernier said.
The carrier also filed an application with the US Department of Transportation with a view to operate four flights a week between Narita Airport and Palau beginning in December 2010.
A popular scuba diving destination, Palau draws 30,000 Japanese tourists annually but has no direct flights from Japan.
"By adding Palau as a new resort destination, Delta will be able to enhance its commitment to the Japan market and broaden our network portfolio to better meet the demands of our customers," said Mr Bernier.
Delta also plans to begin operating nonstop service between Tokyo's Haneda Airport in and Detroit and Los Angeles, subject to government approval.
