Thai Airways International Public Company Limited resumes regular operation of THAI Flights to and from Europe and is making every effort to transport stranded passengers.

Mr. Piya s vasti Amranand, THAI President, stated that due to the airspace in Europe opening up at this time for regular operation, from today THAI can start operating all regularly scheduled flights to and from Europe.

The airline began operating the extra flights and a few regular, scheduled flights that had received permits to operate to European destinations on 21 April 2010, which saw the national carrier departing Bangkok with full capacity on all flights to Europe, carrying nearly 1,000 passengers who were stranded since the airspace closure last week.

THAI is currently gathering figures of stranded passengers at each airport in determining where extra flights would operate. For these extra flights the airline is working with authorities to secure landing and over-fly rights.

In the meantime, as most of THAI’s fleet are now being used for the regular scheduled flights, the national carrier is looking at reshuffling certain aircraft types for transporting its passengers still waiting to return to their home country, whether to Thailand or to European countries, at the earliest possible opportunity.
