All Nippon Airlines (ANA) has become the first Japanese airline to move away from unisex lavatories and introduce a women-only toilet on board long-haul international flights.
While there will be no immediate move for a men-only toilet, ANA will place one women-only lavatory on board all its international flights with the exception of short-haul A320 and B737 services.
"Following numerous requests from passengers for this service, one women-only lavatory will be designated in the aft section of the passenger cabin (location may differ depending on aircraft and configuration) and will be available for use by women passengers in all classes of service," said ANA in a statement.
Only in exceptional circumstances or emergencies, will men be allowed to utilise the female toilets.
