AirAsia announced Wednesday the launch of two new routes from Jakarta and Medan to Phuket, the airline offering special promotional online fares to celebrate.
The new routes will be in addition to AirAsias existing Jakarta-Bangkok and Bali-Bangkok routes and will operate from its new hub at Phuket International Airport in Thailand.
The carrier said the routes would further strengthen its aggressive expansion plans in being an ASEAN airline.
Special fares start from THB 1,499 one-way for Jakarta-Phuket and THB 999 one-way for Medan-Phuket, available for booking from now until 9 November this year for travel from 3 December 2009-30 April 2010.
Ambassador of Thailand, H.E. Akrasid Amatayakul welcomed the airlines decision, saying it would enhance the trade and tourism industry of both countries.
This is in line with the recently held 15th ASEAN Summits theme, which isEnhancing Connectivity he said.
Jakarta is one of the fastest growing tourist and commercial centres in South East Asia and Medan, is the commercial centre of Western Indonesia while Phuket is a dream destination for people all over the world. These routes can fulfil traveller demands for more convenient, daily direct services to and from Phuket.
